Kisii governor Simba Arati, who is also a staunch supporter of the Azimio la Umoja coalition led by Raila Odinga, has stirred controversy on Twitter after his remarks at President Ruto’s event in Kisii.
The remarks, which have since gone viral, have attracted mixed reactions from Kenyans, some of whom accused Arati of being disrespectful and ungrateful to the president, while others defended him and praised him for being honest and bold. Some users also questioned Arati's loyalty to Raila Odinga and Azimio, wondering why he was undermining the coalition's agenda.
Arati is known for being vocal and outspoken on political matters, especially in his home county of Kisii. He recently unveiled the Kisii County Azimio board, which he said would spearhead the mobilization of support for Raila Odinga's presidential bid in 2023.
"Simba Arati really betrayed Azimio Lao Umoja today... But mainstream media and media pundits failed to rise to the occasion.
"Rais, We in Azimio want to distract you, but don't be distracted.."
So it's all for a distraction? Nothing tangible or something for mwanachi?" Lord Abraham Mutai said.
