Since the first president of Kenya Mzee Jomo Kenyatta passed away, his family still plays a significant role in Kenya's politics. His son Uhuru Kenyatta who served as the immediate former president held the position well bet just before the previous elections, things went berserk between him and Ruto.
There has been a fall out between him and William Ruto who is also ran for presidency and won. Since he won, there has been major push and pull between the two. This situation has led to tension and concerns for the safety of the Kenyatta family prompting reports that they've left the country for United Kingdom.
This is a departure from the past when the Kenyatta family had positive relationships with former presidents Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki,m both of whom supported Uhuru's political aspirations. It's our wish that these leaders won't let their personal disagreements negatively impact their families and the nation.
However, the strained relationship between Uhuru Kenyatta and President William Ruto following the 2018 handshake appears to be escalating further. The Kenyatta family's departure from the country highlights the ongoing political differences between Uhuru and Ruto.
